Meet your Instructor

Christina Patzman comes from a long line of seamstresses and jokes that she learned how to sew in her mother's womb. Her grandmother was a dressmaker for 40 years and taught Christina clothing design and sewing with a hands-on and practical approach. Christina started making clothing while in junior high and continued designing and sewing throughout high school. She studied apparel design in college – receiving a BA in Apparel Design in 1991. Christina has had several lines of clothing that have sold both locally and nationally. She has been teaching sewing classes at Fancy Tiger Crafts since 2008, and especially loves helping students with garment design and construction.

Pillowcase

Our first project together is a pillowcase. Put what you have learned to practice by threading the machine and bobbin, using different stitch settings, and adjusting tensions and stitch lengths.

During the tote bag project, we will build on your foundations and practice new skills including how to mark and cut fabric, apply interfacing, box corners, and using a seam gauge.

Our final project is a zipper pouch. Combine all your skills and learn how to add a zipper; it is not as hard as it may "seam!"
